I haven't seen it yet. Of course, the BRP I remember was 16 pages or so. Therefore when I read about this new version, I have trouble wrapping my mind around it.

I suspect it is also because this new BRP is being marketed as able to do any genre.  That means chapters on psionics/ magic, superpowers, various weapons, etc etc.  I've heard some good things about it, but I'm not in a hurry to get any new roleplaying games. (Unless I spot Over The Edge, perhaps).

It really can do most anything, and you can make the game pretty simple if you want ( As I am wont to do)

I think its well worth the price.

I broke down and got a copy of it. It looks like they've stripped the rules from the various BRP settings ocer the years and combined them in a cleanly written single book. I could do CoC with superheroes with these rules, for example.

Yeah, its defiantly worth it. Its still pretty old school feeling, too.

Are there modifications to the hit point rules?  I mean, Call of Cthulhu investigators are pretty squishy, and I probably wouldnt want superheroes that died that quickly... Wink

Not really.  However, the Super Powers rules let you buy a huge CON with Super Characteristic and there are four powers that effectively block or reduce damage. It seemed to work okay in Superworld back in the day. The BRP system would not be my choice for a pure supers game, however -- at least not a four-color one.

I agree- I'd use BRPG for a lot of things, but not super heroes.
