Goblinoid Games has released Mutant Future. Mutant future is a retro-style "after the holocaust" game designed around the same rules used for Labyrinth Lord. From a quick first look, it will probably play a lot like the fourth edition of Gamma World (which used AD&D-like rules as the base). The 160+ pdf download is free.

I'm very excited about Mutant Future, and I think I'll order the paperback version. If nothing else, it will serve my D&D campaigns the same way the old Gamma World original box did, as inspirational material.
I've always loved the post-apoc theme. Perhaps I can convince my 13 year old to play it with me on rainy days.

The monsters aren't as inspiring as I had hoped, but nothing is stopping me from adding my favorites from Gamma World. However, I really like making the gamesystem compatible with Labyrinth Lord as this makes everything in Mutant Future very easy to convert for use with any early edition of D&D -- and vice-versa.

I'd love to play this. Although I have a feeling my only chance of getting a game going is to try and start a PbP game. I don't want to seem like a total cynic, but I'm not sure they'll be much of an audience for this game.

Gamma World went through a number of editions and there was always a audience so I suspect there is one for Mutant Future as well. I hope there is as it looks like a good game.

I bought the hardcover version of Mutant Future, and have been reading through it. I thought it would be good, and I was disappointed; it's great. I haven't had time to run it, yet, but I definitely plan to.

I thought it would be good, and I was disappointed; it's great. My only "disappointment" is that they couldn't use some of my favorite "critters" from Gamma World, but that is easily fixed as it is easy to move creatures from Gamma World to Mutant Future. It's probably especially easy with 4th Edition GW as that edition was based on AD&D mechanics -- so naturally, I can't find my copy where I thought it should be.
